"My name's Abraham Liddell, I'm the founder and leader of the... surgical sector of our illustrous institution", he answered carefully. Normally only a few of his collegues knew of the secret experimental section and he was aware that there was enough gossip the workers shared, but he didn't had to confide it. Well, maybe there wouldn't be a huge fuzz because she was a mute and couldn't tell everybody about it, but he wanted to prevent the spreading of agitation among the workers like it happened 20 years ago. The workers fell almost in panic when they were aware of what followed after he entered their room to ask them to accompany him.
It took a while and some ugly measures to silence this trouble and make sure nobody talked about what happened in his surgury room. So he hoped the girl would let this topic rest so he had not to mute her in another way. "So, Satine? Very interesting. Suits you, Jean can match names perfectly to workers. This is maybe her only talent right after her inventiveness to hurt and harrass people." They went around a corner and he gazed at her for a second. "So what have you done to gain Jeans anger? I know she's not the easiest contemporary."
Sansa listened with interest as he spoke, she had only rumors of what he did but now that they had been confirmed she wondered just what things he did. She was almost relieved when he commented on her name, she nodded in reply to him saying that Jean was only good at hurting others and coming up with nicknames. At his other question she frowned as she remembered what she had accidently walked in on and shook her head. Her hands flew as she signed I can't tell you...she would find out. After all Jean Grey was a very skilled telepath and if Sansa so much as opened her mouth to reveal what had happened she would be in big trouble.

Professor Liddel raised an eyebrow when Satine shook her head and let it rest. It wouldn't be of use to force her to tell him what happened if she was that afraid of Jean. He could sense this. Liddell didn't care a lot about the lab rats but this was no reason to get them into trouble, so he would be satisfied with her decision. He thought a few moments in silence before he addressed her again. "You're not a supernatural being like the others, aren't you?" Meanwhile it was very rare to meet a normal human in here - due to his employers, Jeans, the clients and the sponsors predilections.
Sansa relaxed when he let the subject drop, her eyes lowering onto the floor once more. Her attention was caught as Professor Liddell spoke once more, she shook her head. Once again her hands moved to sign, No I'm just mute. She supposed that would make Jean's job easier. After all no one noticed a mute person, there was really only one person that had befriended her. Sansa also knew it was only because she didn't bother him like some of the other girls here did.

Liddell observed the little lab rats face when she dropped down into her own thoughts. She didn't seem to be that underexposed like some other workers he had the misfortune to deal with. Maybe she could be of use for him. He lately was searching for someone who could lend a hand in his experimental section since his former assistant wasn't willing to cooperate anymore. And unfortunately now this guy wasn't able to refuse anything anymore... "Well, well", Professor Liddell added according to his thoughts and gave Satine a pensive look. He would overthink his random idea. At least you can be sure she'd keep all the secrets. He smirked, but ended quickly, knowing it was mean. Then he addressed the lab rat once more. "So, do you have a special wish where you would like to be taken to? The dormitories, a certain friend?"
Satine looked up at the mention of a "friend" and nodded enthusiastically, being around Caleb would be a relief. Her hands moved, Caleb, he's one of the workers here she signed with a small smile on her face. Of course it would be hard to say how Caleb would react when he saw her, his mood seemed to change depending on what was going on. However she also knew that being around Caleb would make her feel much better as he had a way of making her feel safe in this place.

Caleb, Caleb... Professor Liddell thought who could be this guy. He didn't know a lot of the rats by their real names, it didn't matter in a place like this one. No one was interested in who they were or who they would like to be as long as they did what they were told to. He looked frowning at her. "Caleb? You mean Caleb Todd? Hunter? Well, in that case I think you're not just a bright light when it comes to choosing your friends. He's difficult with a nasty back story, you could have done better. But if you want to I can take you to him." He mumbled quietly his own thoughts to that topic so she couldn't hear him while he thought about where he could find this guy.
Sansa's smile dimmed just a little bit at his words, she realized she had just been insulted..true Caleb was a rough guy but he was kind. Of course it might seem otherwise when Caleb had snuck alcohol from the kitchens. Sansa hesitated and then her hands moved, Please and that was all she asked really she just wanted to see a familiar face. Someone she actually trusted, which was a shock anyway as this place had a habit of erasing that ability for most workers. A thought that was very depressing when she thought about it for too long. Thank you for helping me she added, he could have just walked on as well and left her in the closet.

"Don't mention it", Liddell said according to her thank expression. "Everything what annoys Jean is making me happy. It's kind of the only fun left in here." He didn't mention he was able to risk Satine herself would be punished for this at first, but now he decided to call for Jeans attention it was him to exclude her. Then he sighed and shook his head. "If you insist on it we will see where we can find him. But please take care of yourself, it would be a waste you just got out that bloody closet to experience something much worse." He didn't trust the workers altough they were under control and wearing their collars.
Sansa listened to him thoughtfully, and then nodded at his warning she had learned how to stay under the radar...mostly. If Jean was looking for her then there really wasn't much Sansa could do but she could only hope that Jean wouldn't notice her missing. If she was lucky, Sansa might be able to just lay low with Caleb until tomorrow. She paused as a thought occurred to her, What if she finds out you helped me? She signed to him with sudden concern as she realized what that could mean to the Professor.

"Dear child, Jean doesn't care a lot about you and your lab rat companions. As far as I can say she would have left you there until she would have been reminded about it, what may could have been days later, just to see how you would have acted. If she'll find out don't mind, most of the times it's me and I'm still as fresh as a daisy. The only reason she still tolerates me around her and the Institution itself is that she needs me in the surgical sector because she finds it too boring to deal with it on her own. So she's glad I take care of it." Liddell noticed Satine wasn't really satisfied with his answer.
"Look, most of the time she can be really mean but sometimes she can also be almost a kind person you would like to share your lunch with. And now I am tired of talking about her, so let's move."
