"Believe it or not, as a sponsor I am obliged to know every client. Well, at least I must have spoken to them once and agree with important persons like Jean that I'm sure they will not spread around our little secrets." He gave her a devious look and went along in a more dashing way. "Speaking of little secrets-", Ronan stroked her fleetingly on the back of the hand to get her attention because he wasn't sure if she was actually listening or just stucking in her own thoughts. "Won't you tell me why you're here? What's your little gift Jean thought would be worth to incorporate our collection of oddities?"
Anya was not aware that Jean hadn't told Ronan about her...it was strange to say the least. She was brought out of her thoughts as Ronan stroked the back of her hand with his own, "My gift? You mean my super power? Or my ability to keep the guests entertained?" She asked flippantly. She pulled her hand away as she tried to keep her concentration about her, it wouldn't do to lose her calm focus now. "As for why I'm here, you'll have to ask Jean as she was the one who took me from my home." Anya said darkly as her thoughts wandered to that awful night.
(Sorry I'm replying kind of irregularly! I still don't have back my own computer so I have to use my cousins which isn't always available )
Ronan noticed how her face got a dark expression, it was like someone put a shadow over her eyes. He could tell from this she was stuck in her own mind for now due to his question. He was aware none of the workers was here as a volounteer and some back stories were darker than other ones, but the fact Jean or someone else told him about Diamond aroused a certain charm. "I'm talking about your super powers. It is plain to see how you can please our clients", he answered with a quiet snicker. Maybe he would find out later which memories brought this dark mood over her in this moment. "I don't think Jean would tell me. Or do you think I would have to ask if she would tell me everything about the things going on here?" Yeah. And this he had to find out, too - why Jean hadn't told him about her. He would take care of it later.
Anya shrugged, "I can turn invisible, not much of a power though." She said with a frown. Jean had told her the power was developing but Anya wasn't sure what that meant. "As for Jean...well maybe she told you once. There are a lot of people here after all." She pointed out. They had neared the Dance Room, "Well I should get going, but uh it was nice meeting you." She said with a little head bow.
(Sorry for the wait, Sunday's are very busy for me XD)
(don't mind, we all have our lifes outside the internet^^)
"Turning invisible", Ronan echoed to himself and gave the girl an appreciative side-glance. This counted to the powers he liked the most - almost subtle and sophisticated without something rough what could destroy the elegancy of the workers. Emphasizing their appearance so their abilities match their beauty in the best way. This was why he didn't like animal like workers - metamorphs ore something similar. Their wild and raw nature destroyed the imagination of pureness by beauty. This congenital wildness disgusted him. But with someone like Diamond he was able to work. She was unrefined and with his help things could change. He slightly noticed how his new aim took over him. "So, that's it? You will just leave me here in front of the dance room? I have to say that's really rude", Ronan answered on her last sentence with narrowed eyes and a piqued smile like he could not believe her words.
Anya was about to reply but broke off as Jean Grey arrived, "Diamond you're ten minutes la-" She broke off as she took note of Ronan. She raised an eyebrow at him, "Mr. Bennett not here to carve Diamond's face off now are you?" She asked with a dangerous tone to her voice. "I didn't realize you were paying the Institution a visit, to what do I owe the pleasure?" She asked with a barely there smile.
--
Anya's eyes flicked between the two of them with silent interest obviously wondering what was going on. "I'm sorry I'm late." She said demurely knowing she would only make things worse by acting otherwise. Anya wished she knew better what was going on but it seemed that Jean had kept her being there a secret from Ronan...Anya was sure this wouldn't go well at all.
"On the contrary, Jean." Ronan let go off Diamond to take Jean Greys hand and blew her a kiss on her fingers with a charming smile on his lips. "Nice to meet you, too. You look stunning as usual. Well, I accompanied the little Miss to make sure she would arrive safely to your teaching lesson, without any ulterior motives." He took a quick look on Diamond and noticed she got a little uncomfortable or nervous since Jean appeared. "I came to talk to you about the lately planned event, you know... a night of pleasure... We have to discuss some things I suppose. Forgive me I didn't announced myself earlier. I just passed the same way when I came from visiting a friend of mine and thought Why don't you take care of it immediatly? This saves us some paperwork, or not?" Then he pointed at Anya with a furtively look.
"And don't worry about her face. As far as I can say she's not my type... yet. But I think she would do well in our little event, or not?"
His face expression changed from courteous to a more pungent one. He was aware Jean wasn't pleased about him talking to Diamond or at least figuring out her presence in this place. And he would like to find out, why.
Jean showed no hint of what she was thinking and merely gave him an unreadable smile, "And we both know exactly what you type is." She said calmly. She turned to look at Anya who was avoiding her look, "Go join the others in their lesson." Jean said and waited until Anya was gone before turning on Ronan. Her green eyes penetrated him, "I'm very tired of having to dispose of all the girls you disfigure and Anya is one of my best workers. I know exactly what will happen the moment you get interested and quite frankly the last thing I want to do is find a new replacement. You may not intend to disfigure her because you find her interesting." She said the word like it left a bad taste in her mouth. "But we both know what happens when you decide to move on to the next best thing." Jean said nastily before she shook her head. "Either way I'm not going to allow it unless you have a better option." She said firmly, it was clear that she was being dead serious.
"I don't think you're getting tired to find replacements as long as you get my support", Ronan answered with a gentle voice, not showing his irritability. "You know I will always help you out in this case since your loss of workers is due to me in sometimes. Nothing is further from my than to bring you inconvenience, you know." His look wandered from Jean to the barely closed door where he could take another look on some of Jeans workers practicing. "I admit Diamond is interesting, some kind of..." He searched for a fitting term. "... obstinate and bold in a very lovely way comparing to your other boys and girls. Fresh and a bit unaffected of this place. Pretty face by the way. She's a real eye-catcher." Then he turned his face again to Jean and glanced at her in a frosty, unapproachable way like he did most of the times when he was speaking to another person and doesn't had to play the charming gentleman longer because his interlocutor knew his real nature.
"She's pretty but not stunning, that's why I won't touch her in first place. I rather thought about... let's say making her my protege. You know she's got a lot of potencial. Not at least because of her nice oddity to turn invisible, or not?" He waited expectantly for Jeans reaction about his awareness. "It's funny, you know, I only saw her after that long time she's already here. Did you forget to tell me about her? Or did you do this on purpose?"
Jean sighed, "Making her your protégé? She doesn't have what it takes." She said with a dismissive wave of her hand. At his other words she narrowed her eyes at him not seeming at all perturbed by his tone, "Are you accusing me of with holding information from you?" She demanded as her eyes flashed gold. "If so then may I remind you who introduced you to this place? True you may be able to find clients but I could just as easily secure a replacement." She said her expressing showing just how serious she was about it. "Next time I see you it better be at night and not hanging around the dormitories, if I suspect that you're harassing any of the girls or boys here then I will make it my personal mission to make you relive your worst nightmare for the rest of your miserable life." She said darkly. Jean did not appreciate it when the clients or anyone who came to the Institution acted like they were the ones in control, after all she was the one who had started the whole thing. She already had contacts and lawyers ready for every single outcome and if push came to shove, she would not be above using her powers to make someone's life a living hell. "I trust you can find the exit." She added before she turned and went back to the dance room.
"If you can easily secure replacements, then why the fuzz, my dear?" Ronan forced himself not to start a discussion about it. The last time both were fighting with each other it lasted hours he could have spent in another more pleasant way. "You just admitted Diamond is one of your best workers. So why not supporting her? Sure, she doesn't have what it takes to be patronized yet - but I think it would be worth it. The last days I got to know some new potencial clients - may I just add they could be for big use for you? - who would kill to have a girl like her. I only ask you to think about it." From one second to the other his charming smile appeared barely on his lips again.
"It hurts me that you're thinking I'm accusing you of anything. I was just curious what's about this girl you tried so hard to hide. Don't take it personal." Then he pulled out his pocket watch before he glanced at her again. "How convenient that we're done earlier as planned. I guess I will visit some of our clients." He took her hand and pressed her fingers congratulatory that she managed to send him away. But he was sure she could read in his eyes how grim he really was, luckily he knew how to keep his countenance and the importance of it. There was nothing worse than someone who could not behave. "I'll pay the Institution again soon a visit. Then we can discuss anything further." He let go off her hand and made as if to go before he turned back again.
"And don't tease your boys and girls too much. It always draws an unpleasant look of exhaustion on their faces. A few clients complained about it. But you know your job very well, so I'm sure you'll find a suitable compromise because we both know it wouldn't work in another way." This way maybe one of the rare things he and Jean had in common. Their sadistical habits.
